The captain of Royal Challengers Bangalore has broken Robin Uthappa’s record also for most runs by an Indian batsman in a single season of the IPL. His run of scores in the tournament : 75, 79, 33, 80, 100*, 14, 52, 108*, 20, 7 and 109. This hundred is Kohli’s second against Gujarat Lions. Now Kohli scored 677 runs in eleven innings. The record for most runs in an IPL season remains the 733 that Chris Gayle and Michael Hussey achieved in 2012 and 2013 respectively. Gayle, Kohli’s RCB team-mate, also scored 708 in 2013, which is the third most for a season.

In the same edition, Kohli had made 634 in 16 games, his previous personal best. Only three other batsmen have crossed 600 runs in an IPL season – Sachin Tendulkar (618 in 2010), Shaun Marsh (616 in 2008) and Gayle (608 in 2011).
